Menopause Yoga™

Menopause Yoga™ is a specific programme by Petra Coveney and Dr Louise Newson to help relieve many symptoms often experienced by those in perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause.
 
Classes and workshops include:

  • a specially adapted yoga practice with breathing techniques and mindful meditation exercises to help manage the main symptoms such as hot flushes, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, fatigue, lack of focus and low mood.

  • guidance on natural remedies, nutrition, Indian Ayurveda, and medical approaches to hormone replacement

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a practice that specifically targets deep connective tissues by holding poses for longer than in yang-style yoga, typically for 3-5 minutes or more. This time under passive tension allows for a gentle yet sustained stress on ligaments, tendons and fascia, promoting flexibility and joint health.

It differs from the more dynamic style of yang yoga, as yin focuses on passive postures with relaxed muscles, encouraging stillness and a meditative, introspective experience.

The key principles of Yin Yoga include finding your own ‘edge’ in poses and holding them in stillness with a sense of relaxation and surrender for a set amount of time.

The main benefits are increased circulation to connective tissue, increased flexibility and improved joint mobility. It’s also great for reducing stress and creating a deeper mind-body connection.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic and flowing style of yoga that synchronises breath with movement, creating a continuous sequence of poses. Each movement is linked to an inhale or an exhale, creating a dance-like flow around the mat.

Vinyasa Yoga builds strength, flexibility and balance. It can also enhance cardiovascular endurance due to the dynamic nature of the practice. The synchronised breath and movement can help to reduce stress and promote relaxation.

The practice typically begins with a series of Sun Salutations and can vary in intensity. Vinyasa’s adaptability allows everyone to progress at their own pace, making it a sustainable and accessible form of yoga for long-term wellbeing.

My classes, unless specified otherwise, are suitable for all.

Travel the world with me from the comfort of your own home! Membership includes at least four live yoga classes each month from various cities around the world, plus access to the growing library of recorded classes, meditations and breath work sessions.  Each class will be recorded so if you don't join live, you can practice at a time that suits you.
